I highly recommend this book. If you are looking for answers , tips and advice during your or your child's college application this is your book. Anthony makes it fun and easy to understand. I also recommend his system thegreensystem I wish someone would have told me about it before spending so much money in books and a class at sylvain which didn't help my daighter at all.
I think one of the most difficul times in a person's life is the college preparation/application process, SAT, ACT , ESSAYS, INTERVIEWS, APPLICATIONS ...STRESS! With Anthony's tools you can make it easier and successful .
This is the BEST book I have read regarding the college application process. You should buy this book when your kid is in 7th or 8th grade so that your can start putting its processes into place when he/she starts high school. My only regret is that this book was not published when my first child applied for college, it would have clarified a lot of things. One of the funniest parts of the book (and there are a lot of funny parts in this book) was the part where Anthony writes that colleges "claim" that they don't admit students based on the financial donations that their families make to the schools (laughing uproariously). Based on her academic performance, I knew early on that my daughter had the potential of getting into an ivy league college, so I spent many, many, hours on the internet and reading books for information about the college admission process. I never came back with the honest and succinct advice I found in this book. Our daughter was indeed admitted to Yale, but I realize now that we made a lot of mistakes along the way that this book would have helped us avoid. The biggest one was applying to Stanford (her first choice school) early decision. She was rejected. Reading this book made the second time (my son's application process) so much easier. Just today, he received word from Georgia Tech that he has been offered a spot into their very competitive Computer Science program. Still waiting on Notre Dame and Cornell. Thank you Anthony for authoring this book.

This book is highly informed, full of sage advice, and also very entertainingly written. Strongly recommend it for students and parents.
When I read the title, I thought this was going to be a "scare tactic" kind of book. Instead, it was actually one of the most level-headed books I've ever read on the topic. The author tells you what colleges want and how to give it to them, and more importantly, he tells you what to avoid doing without being unreasonable. It's realistic, it's full of information, and it's a plan that anyone can follow. A definite recommend.
